Pneuma: Breath of Life (PS4) | Early Access Review

Pneuma: Breath of Life comes out tomorrow for the PS4 and is being released by Deco Digital & Bevel Studios. We were lucky enough to obtain an early access code from them and have been playing the game for the last week for our review. Pneuma is a first person puzzler/adventure style play, immersed into a world of self discovery and challenging tasks to complete. It requires perception, observation, and lateral thinking skills in order to make it to the next chapter.

Being built on Unreal Engine 4 and using Physically Based Rendering leads to a visually stunning world that leaves you in awe and wanting to discover what’s next.

You are playing as Pneuma, and throughout the game you will hear his comical self-obsessed monologue of trying to discover who he really is and exploring his own fundamental nature of being. You will find yourself laughing every time you enter a new area, so really take a second to listen to what hes saying, it might just help you out!

There are 6 chapters to complete, a prologue and an epilogue as well. Depending on how good you are at solving puzzles, really determines how long it will take you to complete the game. Some puzzles you can solve rather quickly, some we were stuck on for hours before we could figure it out.

Overall, we give the game a 90/100 and would recommend it to anyone who loves this type of game, even if it’s not your type of game the price point allows you to still try it and not be upset if you don’t like it. One of the reasons we wouldn’t give it a 100/100 is because we wish there were more levels!! The game leaves you wanting more and you are almost sad when it comes to an end. 🙁

It will go for only $14.99 (USD) and will be available July 7th on the PS4. It’s a great change of pace between your mega blockbuster games, and has  a lot to offer, great graphics, challenging puzzles, and a funny monologue.

Check out the trailer we made for the game, it will really give you a good idea of what to expect and doesn’t give away any of the puzzles either!!
