Rory McIlroy will be released July 14th, and will be available for both of the next gen consoles. The game comes with a couple of new features like a new Backswing Meter, Aiming Arc, and some putt read features to help those who maybe aren’t the best on the green. You are also able to choose between three new swing modes; the traditional “3-Click”, an “Arcade” swing, this will allow you to use the analog sticks to swing while also allowing application of spin to the ball in mid-air, and finally the “Tour” this is an advanced swing where players will pull back on an analog stick to backswing, and push forward on the stick for the follow-through. Also you are unable to zoom in on the hole while in Tour mode as well.
With the new engine the game was made on it will now have more realistic physics and interactions between the golf ball and aspects of the environment. This will allow the game to account for firmness and grass length, shooting balls through plants and trees etc.. The entire course will now be treated as a single map, so shots that are way off the mark can now actually land outside the current hole you are on.
The game features a new mode as well, Night Club Challenge, this requires players to make shots at targets in a nightclub themed setting.
Rory McIlroy PGA Tour will include twelve real-world courses; Delepre golf centre, Northampton, Brampton Heath, Northampton, Overstone Lodge, Northampton, St Andrews, TPC at Sawgrass, TPC Boston, and Wolf Creek. TPC Scottsdale will be a pre-order exclusive. Additional content will be added through downloadable content. Due to an expired license, Augusta National and the Masters Tournament will not appear in the game, although an EA representative has suggested that the course may be re-introduced as DLC in the future.
Fantasy courses will also be offered, including one based on the Battlefield map Paracel Storm, the Grand Canyon, and a nightclub-themed course for the game’s new challenge mode.
