Godzilla (PS4) Review

Don’t let the intro to the video fool you, Godzilla is an extreme let down. You’d think it would be hard to make a game where you get to play as a gargantuan radioactive dinosaur, smashing and bashing your way through urban infrastructure and battling it out against other extraordinary monsters a let down, but somehow Godzilla managed to do this.

WTGG had high hopes for this game after seeing the trailer a couple of months ago, as a fan of the movie and Godzilla within itself, the game is a complete and utter disaster. As you will notice in our video above, the game looks like it was made almost a decade ago. The graphics and interaction with the environment are not even sub-par, it’s just outright terrible. The buildings almost all look the same, square and blocky, and when destroyed they all explode and crumble in the same way.

The controls make the game even worse, movement doesn’t feel natural and it’s very tedious to make Godzilla do anything. These unorthodox controls make it very difficult to get used to, who thought after the invention of thumb-sticks you would still have to use two different buttons to turn left or right. In order to keep a combo going while on a rampage you essentially have to use the same few attacks over and over again, and thanks to Godzilla’s slow speed and burdensome controls, it’s easy to miss a step or even get stuck turning around and your combo is gone.

They should have just left this franchise alone and kept it at just a movie. We rate the game an overall 3 out of 10 and would strongly suggest not buying it, unless you are a Godzilla collector of course than have at it!!
