This is an eventful week, with a total of 6 games being released across several different platforms. The games being released this week are all over the place, you can find anything from a go kart racing cat to a dead hacker sending you random emails. So let’s get started.
Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture will be released on the PS4 come August 11th, this is probably one of the most highly anticipated games being released next week. Made by The Chinese Room, which is the same studio responsible for the astonishingly beautiful Dear Esther. Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is a story of how people respond in the face of grave adversity, it’s an open-world experience which pushes innovative interactive storytelling to the next level.
What better way to follow up the Rapture than with, Garfield Kart for the 3DS. Now this my friends is probably one of the games you want to stay away from next week. You can Battle against friends with local multiplayer and use weapons and bonus items to gain your advantage. Only those who have mastered skills like skidding and finding the hidden shortcuts will be able to take the lead in this kart racing game. Garfield kart gives players the ability to experience Garfield’s colorful, imaginative world like never before. Honestly though some of the pre-release reviews are bad, and we suggest not buying this game.
Ever wondered what it would be like to roam around as a Goat causing mayhem to everything withing reach? Well now you can with Goat Simulator , which will be released on August 11th for the PS4 & PS3. In this open-ended third-person perspective game you will be able to control a goat and free roam throughout the world. It takes place in a suburban setting where you will be able to jump, run and bash things. Certain objects can be moved by simply licking them which will attach the goats tongue and allow you to drag the object around. Believe it or not this game actually has pretty good reviews, if you want game to just mess around and have fun than this is definitely for you.
Our next game is a call to all hackers and will give you full immersion into a persistent virtual world, one that has no obvious signs of “levels” or game elements to break the illusion. Yes we are talking about, Hacknet, coming to the PC on August 12th and will be available on Steam. The game features real UNIX based hacking, this isn’t no Hollywood-style replica of hacking, this game creates a truly immersive experience and puts the player right in the middle of trying to break through the firewalls.
Our next game is Paddington: Adventures in London, being released for 3DS on August 11th. It’s about a bear trying to become a true English gentleman, if this sounds fun to you than go ahead and click through. We would rather not waste our time.
Last but not least, Christopher Brookmyre’s Bedlam, which will be available come August 13th for Xbox one, PS4, PC & Mac, so take your pick! Bedlam is a first-person shooter and is based on the novel by Christopher Brookmyre. The game follows Heather Quinn, a programmer who ends up trapped in the game world of a FPS from the ’90s. While trapped within this game she uncovers “a vast realm of interconnected game worlds documenting the evolution of the FPS genre and of video games in general.”
Well that pretty much sums it up for this weeks TWIG Update, don’t forget tomorrow we have our Cosplay Woman of the Week, it’s the best way to start off your Monday.
