Dota 2 has recently released their new gameplay update 6.85 and some interesting and new ideas have come along with it. Most importantly the newly added feature referred to as “Neighborhood Channels” which allows you to join chat channels within your area, and by default you’re placed in the chat channel of your city. This is a great update, and one that will create a better social atmosphere within the game and encourage players to team up with people more often and find new friends.
Currently the chat channels are enabled in select regions, but Dota 2 plans to release this world wide in the next few days. The new chat panel is also directly embedded within the home page and stays open while searching for games and doing other activities within the game. Two other panels have been added as well, one showing a recap of your most recent game and the other shows highlights of the most-spectated match currently being played.
Dota 2 has been making a lot of changes lately, rolling out the full version of Dota 2 Reborn and now the chat panel, and I must admit it’s all pretty good. Typically I’m opposed to change within games, and a lot of times I feel it can really destroy the overall experience and I’ll move on to something else. But the changes they have been making lately have won me over and will only encourage me to play even more!!
